My god, what a bunch of sooks. Private schools operate in the market and thus are fiscally responsible to the board to gain a competitive advantage. This advertising isn't tacky or unethical, and even if it is a bit elitist, who cares? Hugo Boss is a bit showy in their cologne adverts, but they're not targeting their ads towards Bazza from Broadmeadows are they? Private schools are going after their target audience, so of course it's going to be a touch pompous and elitist. I also resent the sanctimonious implication that parents can't think for themselves and are going to be hurt or upset by an advert because they can't pay for an expensive private school - I can assure you, most wouldn't give this ad a second thought. We have become such a nation of absolute sooks and this need to wrap everyone in cotton wool and protect hurt feelings that aren't even there is asinine. Also, trying to look for microaggressions (really, the giant kids are trying to look down on the peasants, who happen to be at the same expensive school?) is doing my head in. Time for this pompous inner city elitist panel who ironically cry poor to eat a spoonful of cement.

This video itself is extremely meta - ABC stars being paid to criticise ABC advertising for inadvertently giving free plugs to commercial competitors, and then this clip is uploaded for free to UA-cam with revenue sharing - my brain got twisted 🤯 iView has the MOST ads, but they're for other ABC shows. Weirdly it's the only one I can't skip - or pay to avoid, like UA-cam, which is incredible value.

I think the key issue here though, which they may be afraid to discuss because... it may be a bit of an eye-opener to them, is that Mr Beast didn't create the content farm to merchandising model, it's the organic marketing model of the modern age which has been growing for years, pushing the old market, and the more typical marketing techniques, aside because it's simply more effective to foster a market of personality in a world in which people can once again choose the advertisements they see.

Haven't seen Jane Caro for a while, it looks like her stint at being the biggest "right-on" troll on Australian Twitter/X has finally driven her to madness.
